BASIC SET UP

Here you will find guidelines and links for a simple and inexpensive exercise equipment set up to help you perform the most amount of exercises with the least amount of space and equipment.

This informational page is designed to help:

  • Beginners
  • Those who do not have any equipment
  • Those who want a basic exercise equipment set up only
  • Anyone who needs advice for a simple and inexpensive exercise set up

Types Of Exercises

The All In 1 Fitness Strap requires a stable and secure anchor point to attach itself with to perform the exercises. The most basic of these anchors is a pull up bar.

With a pull up bar you can perform bodyweight suspension exercises, band assistance and resistance exercises, and stretching exercises. This set up combined with the All In 1 Fitness Strap and various attachments gives you the option for hundreds of exercises with fast set up times for very efficient workouts.

A major advantage of the All In 1 Fitness Strap over conventional suspension straps is the ability to change attachments to offer you greater comfort and leverage compared to the built-in handles on standard suspension straps.

Please see our Attachment Buyer's Guide for assistance in selecting the attachments that are right for you. You only need a few basic and inexpensive attachments to get started, and you will have the option going forward to add more attachments.

 Types Of Pull Up Bars

It is highly recommended to use a stable pull up bar that is strong enough to support you and doesn't wobble much or at all. Use this guide to help determine which type of pull up bar is best for you.

Portable Pull Up Bars

The advantage of portable pull up bars is the convenience to break them down and store them or use them in different locations.

These bars offer enough stability for movements that are performed within a close proximity to the center of the unit, but these bars may tip up or slide out of place as you move further away from its center.

You can increase the stability by placing sandbags on top of the base.

Free Standing Pull Up Bars

Free standing pull up bars are heavier and offer more stability than portable pull up bars, but they may still tip up or shift out of place with exercises performed further away from the center.

You have the option to purchase a basic squat stand/pull up bar with attachment holes that allow you to attach weight plate storage holders to weigh your stand down and give it more stability. Some models listed below include weight plate storage holders for additional stability.

Many parks have secure free standing pull up bars for those who would like to train outdoors.

Click the links below to purchase free standing pull up bars, and be sure to check the height to make sure it does not exceed the height of your ceiling:

Wall Mounted Pull Up Bars

A more stable option is a wall mounted pull up bar. Keep in mind that the bar may not be far enough from the wall to prevent the wall from getting in your way on certain exercises that require your body to be extended behind the bar in the horizontal plane of motion, but this shouldn't be a problem for most exercises.

Ceiling Mounted Pull Up Bars

The advantage of ceiling mounted pull up bars is the space it gives for your body to move in the horizontal plane of motion. Use caution when installing a pull up bar on your ceiling. Make sure your ceiling is strong enough to support you. If you are not sure then hire an engineer. It is also recommended to install the bar closer to the wall for the most structural safety and stability, especially for longer ceilings.

Door Mounted Pull Up Bars

It is not recommended to use door mounted pull up bars as these are not always a safe and secure option. If you do use a door mounted pull up bar then use one that mounts to the top of the frame and not one that mounts to the sides of the door.

Other Basic Equipment

The equipment and attachments listed below are not required to get started but do offer a lot of versatility to add numerous exercise possibilities to your workouts:
